The question every landscape contractor asks.
We talk with landscape contractors on a daily basis, and one of the number one questions that we get when it comes to an AI voice receptionist for your landscape company is, “How will my customers and prospects react?
And that’s a very valid concern because most landscape contractors are aware that the first impression that a prospect gets when they reach out to your company after they went to your website. They checked out your portfolio of previous work. They read your reviews, and then they made the decision in their head: “Hey, let’s reach out to these guys. I think they would be great for what we want to do at our house”.
How that interaction goes is what’s going to determine in their mind how they think the rest of the customer experience is going to go.
So if they call, and it goes to voicemail, and you leave a voicemail, and then you call back a day later, two days later. They’re be thinking, “Geez, these guys are kind of slow to get back. Or if they land at a voicemail box that’s full and they can’t even leave a voicemail if they want to, that’s another negative.

And so I’m just going to show you what our voice receptionist can sound like. Listen exactly how the conversation plays out.
Verdapt: Avalon Design Group, how can I help you?
Caller: Yes, hi. Um, we’re looking um to put in a new gunite pool right in Coventry.
Verdapt: Okay, we do cover Coventry for that. Do you have a rough budget in mind for the new gunite pool project?
Caller: Um, well, yes and no. I mean, um, I think it’s going to cost, you know, about six figures. Just not sure how deep into the six figures it’s going to be. We actually have a new brown pool. It’s from the 70s, and because the patio is settling on one side, it’s it’s always been a little tilted, which was fine. But now the wall and the deep end is like getting crushed and it’s protruding into the pool, and we have a liner, so it’s on, you know, it’s really stretched to the max. So I suppose in your eyes, this would probably be considered a new pool because the one that’s there cannot be repaired. We’d have to have it removed and a new one put in.
Verdapt: Okay, that helps. What’s your zip code in Coventry, so I can make sure we cover your area?
Caller: It’s 02816.
Verdapt: Yep, we cover that area. What’s your first and last name? Thanks. What’s the address where you’d like the work done? Okay. What’s the best phone number for you, or should I use the number you’re calling from? Um.
Caller: Yes. this phone number is good.
Verdapt: And what’s a good email for you? We have Thursday, July 2 at nine a.m. available. Would you like me to book that?
Caller: No. Do you have anything for the following week, like after the fifth?
Verdapt: We have Monday, July 6 at nine a.m. Would you like that time?
Caller: Yes.
Verdapt: You’re all set for that phone consultation on Monday, July 6 at 9 a.m. Adam will give you a call at this number to go over the pool project.
Caller: Great.
Verdapt: Thanks for calling. Have a good one.
You can see how descriptive during the recording that the prospect is, telling exactly what’s going on with the current pool, why there’s a massive problem with it, and obviously getting it solved, reaching out to Avalon and having them redo their pool.
And three weeks later, they had a contract signed for what’ll be more than $200,000 for a pool and outdoor living area.

She asked if it was AI, got an answer, and booked anyway.
The next one is TGW, and I’ll just let it play out because she even asked if she was speaking to AI, and I’ll let you hear how she reacted.
Verdapt: TGW Landscaping. How can I help you?
Caller: Good afternoon. I’m trying to make an appointment to have someone look at the property. I’m an interior designer. I live in Upper Saddle River, and I need some work done in the backyard in terms of replacing a large patio that has pavers. I want to replace it with perhaps a porcelain finish, or and then I want to do a fireplace in the backyard. I picked you up actually from AI. That’s how I found out about your company.
Verdapt: Sure. What’s your zip code so I can make sure we cover your area. Yep, we cover that area. Do you have a rough budget in mind for the project?
Caller: Is this an AI response?
Verdapt: I’m Maxine, a virtual assistant for TGW Landscaping. Do you have a rough budget in mind for the project?
Caller: Not really. It’s up for discussion.
Verdapt: No problem. The estimator will walk you through pricing when they connect with you. What’s your first and last name? What’s the address where you’d like the work done?
Verdapt: What’s the best phone number for you? And what’s a good email for you? We have Friday, july 10 at nine a.m. available. Does that work?
Caller: Yes.
Verdapt: You’re all set. You’re booked for Friday, july 10 at nine a.m.
Caller: And who who will I be meeting?
Verdapt: That’ll be Alex.
Caller: Is there a later appointment than the 9 a.m. on Friday, July 10th?
Verdapt: Our next available is Friday at 10 a.m. Does that work?
Caller: Yes.
Verdapt: You’re all set. You’re booked for Friday, July 10th at 10 a.m.
Caller: Thank you.
Verdapt: Thanks for calling. Have a good one. Goodbye.
Caller: Okay. Bye.
As you can see during the call, the prospect literally asked if she was talking to AI. Verdapt answered, and she said okay. And this is someone who was prepared to spend $75,000 on a porcelain paper patio with an outdoor fireplace.

What high-end prospects actually care about.
High-end clients do not mind if it’s AI voice as long as the product is up to par. What they care about most is did their concerns get addressed in an efficient manner.
The vast majority of callers, when a landscape company is using Verdapt, go right through the flow and book an appointment for whatever their project may be. The people that value their time, especially the people spending $75k, $50k, $200,000 on a project even $5k to $10,000 don’t really care that they didn’t get the chance to talk to the owner immediately when they first called the company.
They really only care that they’ve been heard by someone and booked onto the calendar and they know that someone’s going to come out and take a look. That’s it.
What actually makes people mad.
Do you want to know what really makes people mad when they reach out to a landscape company, especially when they found you through a Google search or on an ad online? It’s when they reach out and they don’t hear back from you.
Because I can almost guarantee that that person called the company, the call wasn’t answered, they got a voicemail box that was full, they couldn’t leave one, or if they could leave a voicemail, the voicemail wasn’t followed up on obviously. They decided also, “Well, let’s just send in our info through the contact form because then we know the company got both our call and the contact form submission email”. And they still didn’t get back to them.
Unresponsiveness is what’s going to lead to bad reviews, not an AI voice that is going to answer and lead the conversation to get somebody booked if they are qualified for the work that you want to be doing.
Think about your own phone this past month.
Think about how many times your phone rang over just the past month, and you were not able to answer the phone. Whether you were in a skid steer and it was loud, you’re meeting with another prospect, and that dragged on for an hour, hour and a half because that person had so many questions to ask you.
And by the time you get to your truck and you check your phone, there’s six missed calls. Two of them from your employees, one’s from your wife, the other is from some telemarketers trying to spam you, and there’s a whole bunch of other notifications from text messages, social media, YouTube videos, new emails, all sorts of stuff.
And by the time you get through all of that, you completely forget to call that person back.
Stop fighting that uphill battle.
Rather than trying to fight that uphill battle week after week after month after month after year after year, go down below, book a demo, and let’s get you on the Verdapt platform. Let’s get all the calls answered, so that way you don’t have to be chasing prospects back and forth, playing voicemail tag, trying to get something booked where person can just reach out, gets all the information about them, their location, the project, and booked right onto your calendar.
All you have to do is show up and close the work. We provide full white glove onboarding, so you don’t have to worry about any technical expertise. You don’t have to set up call forwarding. None of that.
Book a demo and we’ll show you exactly how we can do it, and show you exactly how more of the right prospects can get booked directly onto your sales calendar.
